My Money’s Riding On The Dark Horse

Horse watching

This post is for the Trifecta Writing Challenge.

This weekend we’re asking for exactly 33 words including an idiom somewhere
within.

“Always bet on the dark horse” he said.

“Why” I respond.

“He has the most to win and the most to lose.”

Win or lose, it’s all about how you play the game.

OH MY GOODNESS … I Got a Pingback!?!

This blogging “stuff” is new to me but, I am already addicted! I realized my crazed obsession when my internet went down for 28 minutes 3 seconds. Yes, I was counting. I was pacing the house on the verge of breaking down. I was jonesing for my blog, your blogs, and freshly pressed. I don’t think that I was sweating and/or  jerking yet but at 29 minutes I am sure that would have happened.

Finally with trembling hands (ok maybe I was jerking a little) I get signed back in and TAA DAA….there was a message saying that my daily prompt post was pinged or tracked or backed or something. ANYWAY…there is a link to my post on www.thelissachronicles.wordpress.com OMG!!! I am elated!

I know I know…I’m a dork, geek, and nerd all rolled into one. I get really excited over anything and everything. But, to me this is HUGE! OK, I must go skip around the house a few more times and then…I am off to the barn to share the news with the horses.

In case there is any question about my emotion right now… I am HAPPY,HAPPY,HAPPY! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Spontaneity is the Spice of Life … Too Much Spice Gives Me Heartburn

Daily Prompt: Comfort Zone What are you more comfortable with — routine and planning, or laissez-faire spontaneity?

Before breakfast I stroll through Central Park admiring the scenery and observing the people. I have nothing planned for today. I don’t know where I will end up or how long I will walk. I haven’t made any plans for breakfast, but the rumbles and growls coming from my tummy tell me I should probably find substance soon. I end up at a small cafe. I have never been here before but, the smell of coffee pulled me into the small space. Not too crowded, but enough folks dressed in suit and ties to know that this is a favorite place of the “corporate type”. Several were ordering hurriedly while others stood over to the side patting their feet as if to say, “I need coffee and was supposed to be at the office 10 minutes ago”. I stood and waited my turn, as I had nowhere to be. My day was free of chaos. The coffee was outstanding and the muffin stopped the hungry monsters growling.

Where next? Who knows? Who cares? How long am I here you ask? Same answers apply. I am here until the urge strikes me to leave and visit someplace else. AHHH … Spontaneity truly is the spice of life!

In the background, I hear music. Where is that music coming from? Wait, who is pulling and pushing on my arm? Am I getting mugged in NYC?

“Missy Missy Missy, wake up! The alarm is going off and you have to feed. Get up!” But, what happened to New York City in Central Park with no plans? It was only a dream.

Welcome to my real world …

I have 31 animals. My comfort zone revolves around their existence and comfort zone. If they are happy, I am happy.  We are a routine based family farm. If the donkeys are not fed by 8am, they are braying like the world is coming to an end. I even feed the pastures in the same order every day, twice a day. One day I somehow went in a different order. The song chorus “breaking the law, breaking the law” rang out in my head until I went to sleep that night.

Structure, while not always the most fun, is most definitely needed for my style of living. In my dreams at night, I may be the laissez-faire type strolling through life one adventure at a time. In real life, I’m comfortable on a daily routine making sure that everything is done and everyone is happy. I have learned (the hard way) that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Spontaneity is perfectly fine for some, but I will take my daily routine. I am blessed and enjoy my life.

There may be hope yet …

I did just realize that I am walking on the wild side this morning! I had a post outlined for my blog today but after seeing the daily prompt I revamped! I just might be the spontaneous type after all! “Breaking the law…Breaking the law”
